First small and medium sized reactors might be deployed by 2020
First plants with small and medium nuclear power reactors (up to 500-600MW) may be deployed by 2020, Director General of ZAO Rusatom Overseas Dzhomart Aliyev said at the round table held during ATOMEXPO 2013 in St. Petersburg, BelTA learned.

Belarus to attend ATOMEXPO 2013 and IAEA conference in St Petersburg
A Belarusian delegation will take part in the fifth international industry forum ATOMEXPO 2013 and the IAEA high-level international conference “Nuclear Energy in the 21st century” that will be held in Saint Petersburg on 26-29 June. The Belarusian delegation will be led by Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik, BelTA learnt from the Energy Ministry.

Belarus, WB sign $90m loan deal for energy efficiency project
The loan was approved by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors on 6 June 2013. The loan agreement was signed by Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Nazarenko and World Bank Regional Director for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine Qimiao Fan.

Gazprom invites Belarus to partake in pipe-laying project in Serbia, Bulgaria
The talks were constructive; the sides reached understanding on all the key points of the agenda. They confirmed their readiness to implement joint projects. Belarus was suggested a subcontract to lay the Yamal-Europe 2 pipeline on the territory of Serbia and Bulgaria. The parties also discussed supplies of Belarusian machinery for Gazprom.

Belarus provides Latvia with emergency power reserve
Following Latvia’s request, Belarus provided the neighboring country with an emergency reserve of 200MW. The amount of electricity provided to Latvia totaled 600,000 kWh. According to Belenergo, power was transferred on 10 June. Electricity deficit in the Latvian power system was caused by the emergency shut-in of unit No.1 (the output of 380MW) at the Riga CHPP-2 due to a hole in the main steampipe.
