Belarus’ contribution to nuclear disarmament recognized by international community
Belarus’ contribution to nuclear disarmament has been recognized by the international community and reaffirmed by various international instruments, reads the statement of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the accession to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

Gazprom eager to invest in Grodno Azot

Belarus, Bangladesh to cooperate in peaceful uses of nuclear energy
Belarus and Bangladesh intend to cooperate in peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Representatives of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA that with the memorandum, which was signed in Minsk during the visit of the Bangladesh delegation, the sides expressed their interest in establishing cooperation in such areas as the implementation of a nuclear energy program, the development of nuclear power engineering infrastructure, the construction and operation of power-generating units of nuclear stations, electricity generation, nuclear security and radiation protection, and cooperation in training and career enhancement of Bangladeshi specialists in Belarus.

Belarus’ successes in reducing energy intensity praised by EDB
The press center of the Bank said that the EDB examined the measures to improve the energy efficiency measures in the countries of the Single Economic Space (SES) and Ukraine. The energy intensity of the SES countries and Ukraine is significantly higher than the world’s average and this impacts their competitiveness, reads the report “Improving Energy Efficiency in the SES States and Ukraine” by the EDB.

Children from Fukushima area to come to Belarus for recuperation
President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed an order to earmark resources to arrange recuperative holidays of children from the Fukushima-affected regions in Belarus, BelTA learnt from the presidential press service.

IAEA chief advises Japan to study Belarus’ emergency prevention practices
Yukiya Amano, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has recommended fellow experts from Japan to study Belarus’ practices in developing and improving the emergency prevention and response system. The IAEA chief has said it as he met with reporters during the IAEA International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power in the 21st Century held in Saint Petersburg on 27-29 June, BelTA has learnt.
