Lukashenko urges to decide on HPP projects shortly
Alexander Lukashenko remarked that he was the initiator of building HPPs in flat lands. At the same time he stressed: “But if we do not get satisfactory results in the near future, we will think what to do next. If we had extra money, why not to invest it there? In present-day conditions we have to decide whether it makes sense to build this number of power plants,” the head of state said.

Sberbank of Russia opens €24m credit line for Belorusneft
The Moscow branch of OAO Sberbank of Russia has signed a credit agreement with the Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft. As part of the agreement a non-revolving credit line with the limit of €24 million will be provided for a period of 36 months for the sake of financing the operation of Belorusneft’s branch in Ecuador, the press service of the bank told BelTA.

Minsk to host session of CIS commission for peaceful uses of atomic energy
“The conference will bring together over 40 participants to discuss about 15 issues, including the maintenance of nuclear and radiation safety, improvement of the legal framework and technical regulations, information exchange, personnel training, development of radiation medicine,” the specialists explained.

Belorusneft praised for promoting innovations in Russia, CIS in 2014
The best companies received a special award during the 15th international science and practice conference held to discuss coil tubing technologies, hydraulic fracturing, and well intervention. Winners were awarded in 11 nominations. The panel of judges included representatives of ICoTA’s Russian chapter, experts of the Russian Energy Ministry, members of the academic council of the Coiled Tubing Technologies Development Center and the editorial board of the Coiled Tubing Times Journal.

Belarus MPs to consider ratification of protocol on oil duties 10 November
The protocol was signed in Astana on 29 May 2014 to amend the agreement on the order of payment and calculation of export customs duties on crude oil and some oil products (other equivalent duties, taxes and fees) exported by the Republic of Belarus outside the customs territory of the Customs Union.

China’s CITIC Construction interested in Nemnovskaya HPP project
The Chinese delegation visited Grodno and held talks with Grodnoenergo about the possible involvement of CITIC Construction in the project to build the Nemnovskaya HPP. The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation; the company’s officials told their Belarusian partners about a significant experience in building similar hydroelectric power plants in China, toured the proposed site of the Nemnovskaya HPP construction, and visited the Grodno hydroelectric power plant.

Belarus reduces oil export duties
The export duty on crude oil will go down from $344.7 to $316.7 per tonne. The duty on straight-run gasoline and commercial gasoline will make up $ 285 per tonne. The export duty on light and medium distillates will be $209 per tonne. The same duty will be applied to benzene, toluene, xylene, fuel oil, lubricants, waste oils, petrolatum and paraffin, petroleum coke (except for calcinated petroleum coke) and oil bitumen.

Semashko: Possible stoppage of electricity supply from Ukraine will not hurt Belarus
Belarus imports a small amount of electricity from Ukraine. “The energy that we import, for example, from Russia is used for maintaining the stability of the system. The same about the Ukrainian electricity: we import 1-1.5 billion kWh of electricity for the sake of diversification,” Vladimir Semashko said. He told journalists that the negotiations with the Ukrainian side are currently in progress.

Semashko: No sharp increase in gas prices for Belarus
The First Vice Premier stressed that gas prices might be even lower. In his words, the three-year contract on Russian gas supplies to Belarus ends this year. A new three-year contract is almost ready. “It does not envisage any ‘revolutions’. I think there will be no price hike for gas. We forecast the price to go slightly down,” Vladimir Semashko stressed.
