No plans yet to build third, fourth units of Belarusian nuclear power plant
“Talks about building the third and fourth power-generating units of the Belarusian nuclear power plant are premature in the short term. Everything will depend on how our economy develops and how living standards of the people grow,” noted the Energy Minister.

Belarus to decommission old installations before launching nuclear power plant
Plans have been made to decommission over 900MW worth of power-generating installations prior to launching the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The information was released by Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik at the plenary session of the Industry, Fuel and Energy Complex, Transport and Communications Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on 8 April, BelTA has learned.

Hungarian Ganz EEM tests equipment for Belarusian nuclear power plant
She specified that the company will make eight powerful pumps for the nuclear power plant in Belarus. Once commissioned, each will be able to pump 12m3 of water per second for the circulatory system of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Ganz EEM has used its own lab to test the compliance of a sample of the new type of equipment with calculations.

Reactor compartment equipment for Belarusian nuclear power plant on its way
The equipment includes components of the system designed to balance pressure in the reactor plant, which in turn is one of the most important components of the nuclear power plant. The equipment is a reservoir inside the reactor’s protective shell and is designed to condensate steam, which is fed by the pressure compensator. The device weighs 15 tonnes, it is about 8m long, the diameter is 2.4m, with the height at 4m.

IAEA experts praise construction of Belarusian nuclear station’s training center
Vitaly Kolomiyets remarked: “For the last few years we’ve been helping develop the design documents for training the personnel for the nuclear power plant. And we see that the effort has produced results. We positively evaluate the progress in building the education and training center.”

Three to four years to train supervisors for Belarusian nuclear power plant
“For now we invite foreign specialists in order to utilize their experience to train our own personnel later. For instance, it takes 3-4 years to train the personnel to man the main control room using a dedicated standard program. If we borrow specialists in employ of Belarusian power plants, we will be able to rely on the experience of invited foreign specialists to train our own ones before the second power-generating unit goes online,” noted Anatoly Bondar.

Barkun: BelNPP construction unaffected by Russian ruble devaluation

About 15% of the total intended volume of investments has been spent as part of the project to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant, said Andrei Barkun, Deputy Director General, Head of the Capital Construction Office of the enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, during the press conference arranged by BelTA on 11 March.

Belarusian nuclear station equipment delivered from Ukraine without issues
He specified that some equipment is manufactured in Ukraine as part of the contract with the company Power Machines, including a ventilating plant, condensing electric pumps. “They are manufactured on schedule. The deliveries are planned within the established timeframe. We have received no word from the general contractor that the deliveries may fail,” noted Andrei Barkun.

The core catcher for the second power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant will be installed by April, said Anatoly Bondar, Chief Engineer of the enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, during the press conference arranged by BelTA on 11 March.
