More applications for electricity thanks to Belarusian nuclear power plant

Construction of Belarusian nuclear power plant on schedule
The official said that contracts on manufacturing equipment that needs a long time to make had been signed. “We plan to get down to installing the nuclear reactor, the turbine and steam generators of the first power-generating unit in 2016,” said Mikhail Mikhadyuk.

IAEA praises neatness of Belarusian nuclear power plant construction site
The IAEA official said: “We are glad that Belarus vigorously cooperates with the IAEA in accordance with our programs and works to create the infrastructure in compliance with the recommendations. I’ve visited the Ostrovets site twice. It is an example to follow. The preliminary manufacturing conditions that have been created over there exceed those on many other sites I have seen.”

Belarusian nuclear project on display in IAEA HQ in Vienna
According to Mikhail Mikhadyuk, Belarusian Deputy Energy Minister, head of the Belarusian delegation, the opportunity to arrange a national exposition is an important sign on the part of the IAEA administration. “The agency has developed a good opinion about the construction process as well as efforts to create the infrastructure and about Belarus’ overall approach to the nuclear energy program,” remarked the official.

“The construction will soon be completed. Apart from the construction of the BelNPP, the installation of equipment and its fine-tuning, our key priority today is to train specialists. This is one of the main areas of our cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),” Mikhail Mikhadyuk noted.

Russia named main supplier of nuclear fuel for Belarusian nuclear power plant
Mikhail Mikhadyuk said: “Belarus and Russia have signed an intergovernmental agreement on building the Belarusian nuclear power plant. In accordance with the document Rosatom is ready to supply nuclear fuel to us. We are now working on the relevant draft contract.”
