Lukashenko: BelNPP is an example of nuclear power plant of the future
The Belarusian NPP is a good example of a nuclear power plant. “We are building the world’s best nuclear power plant. Thus Russia, together with us, wants to show what nuclear power plants should be in the future,” the President noted. He stressed that the NPP construction should not be expedited. All works should be on schedule and of high quality.

Malkina: Belarus attaches great importance to environmental monitoring near NPP
“Belarus prioritizes the issues of the relationship between human health and environment. We pay special attention to the monitoring of the components of the environment, including near the BelNPP that is under construction and similar plants in our neighboring states,” Iya Malkina stressed. In her words, Belarus would be grateful for the opportunity to get expert support and develop its potential in this area.

First batch of Siemens, KSB pumps for Belarusian nuclear power plant by year end
Siemens and KSB have contracted to deliver ten three-phase 6,300kW asynchronous motors SIMOTICS HV Series H-compact PLUS. The motors will be part of the drives for the multistage feed pumps that will be made for the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

Russian Power Machines makes high-speed turbine for Belarusian nuclear power plant
In accordance with the terms of the contract OAO Power Machines will make and deliver to Belarus two sets of turbine plants, including high-speed 1,200MW steam turbines, condensers and equipment for auxiliary systems of the turbine plant as well as two packaged 1,200MW turbine-type generators with equipment for auxiliary systems. Specialists of the Russian company will also provide installation supervision.

Belarusian nuclear power plant’s equipment properly stored
Equipment storage conditions were checked among other things during the complex inspection of the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in May. “As far as storage is concerned, I would like to note that the hangars built for this purpose are indeed clean and dry. The equipment is kept in very good conditions. Requirements for storing equipment of the Belarusian nuclear power plant are observed. Access to the equipment is restricted. There were no complaints about the matter,” said the official.

Reactor vessel of Belarusian nuclear power plant in for acceptance inspection in late 2015
“Next week Gosatomnadzor representatives together with specialists of the enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant will visit the Volgodonsk-based enterprise Atommash where a reactor vessel for the Belarusian nuclear power plant is being manufactured. An acceptance inspection of the reactor vessel is scheduled for late 2015,” said the official.

Belarusian nuclear power plant to store radioactive waste for at most ten years
Grigory Astashko reminded that the government had recently adopted a strategy to handle radioactive waste of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. In accordance with the document radioactive waste will be stored at the Belarusian nuclear power plant for a definite period of time. “The process is limited to ten years,” remarked the official. After that it is necessary to decide on building a radioactive waste disposal facility.

No complaints during inspections of BelNPP
“As for the permanent supervision at the BelNPP, we constantly verify the compliance with the requirements put forward after the previous inspections. The plant fulfills all the requirements within the established time frames. Until now we have received no complaints,” Olga Lugovskaya stressed.

“The second complex inspection of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is expected to take place in October. We are now preparing the list of questions,” remarked Olga Lugovskaya.

Recruitment, training of Belarusian nuclear power plant personnel examined by IAEA
During a four-day visit to the BelNPP construction site the IAEA representatives studied the practices of recruitment and personnel training for the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the systems of control, licensing of businesses at all stages of the life cycle of a nuclear power plant. In addition, the experts examined the interaction of all participants involved in the project in the supervision of the construction and commissioning works.
