Latest nuclear technologies at AtomExpo Belarus 2014
The latest technologies used to design, build, operate, and keep nuclear power plants safe will be represented at the 6th international nuclear power engineering expo and conference AtomExpo Belarus 2014. The event will take place in Minsk on 1-3 April, the press service of OOO Atomexpo (Russia) told BelTA.

Belarus might resume electricity export to Poland
Representatives of Belarus, Russia and Poland will soon get together to discuss the matter. Yevgeny Voronov explained that the forthcoming talks are part of the effort to prepare for the commissioning of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in 2018. When it happens, Belarus will be able to export electricity to the neighboring states, as the electricity price will be more competitive and the amount of electricity generated in Belarus will be sufficient.

ROSATOM’s companies carry out all fuel supply commitments
In spite of the ban to ship nuclear fuel cycle products by rail across the territory of Ukraine, which was imposed by the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine on January 28, 2014, the Fuel Company of ROSATOM TVEL will carry out all its fuel supply commitments before foreign NPPs. This can be achieved using an alternative licensed mode of transport, i.e. by air, BelTA learnt from the Communications Department of ROSATOM.

Belarus to import about 20.465bn cubic meters of natural gas in 2014
In 2014 Belarus plans to import about 20.465 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas, First Deputy Energy Minister of Belarus Leonid Shenets told media on 6 March, BelTA has learnt.

Belarus to cut electricity import by 37% in 2014
"Last year the country imported 6.7 billion kWh. This year we aim for 2.5 billion kWh," said Leonid Shenets. The main importers of electricity will be Russia (about 1 billion kWh) and Ukraine (around 3 billion kWh). Belarus is reducing the import as it has commissioned some new generating facilities. This fact helped reduce the import price during the negotiating process as the cost of electricity produced in Belarus also decreased.

Belarus invests $6.3bn in energy sector since 2005
Belarus has invested about $6.3 billion into the programs to improve and upgrade the domestic energy sector, Energy Minister of Belarus Vladimir Potupchik said at a solemn ceremony to lay a commemorative stone at the 330kW electrical substation Molodechno on 3 March. The ceremony was timed to the start of the construction of the system to collect the electricity the Belarusian nuclear power plant will generate and deliver it into the national power grid, BelTA has learnt.

Belarus, China busy implementing $1.5bn worth of energy projects
Since 2008 Belarus and China have been implementing a total of over $1.5 billion worth of energy industry products. The figures were voiced by Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik at the ceremony held on 3 March to place a commemorative stone at the 330kV substation Molodechno to mark the launch of the project to build the system to collect the electricity the Belarusian nuclear power plant will generate and feed it into the national power grid, BelTA has learned.

Belorusneft expects commercial oil reserves in southern Belarus

Grodnoenergo to build solar power plant in 2014
The Grodno Oblast electrical company Grodnoenergo intends to build a solar power plant near the Grodno hydropower plant in 2014, BelTA learned from Vladimir Shaternik, Grodnoenergo Director General, during the media tour arranged for central state mass media and regional ones on 20 February.
