Belarus’ Gosatomnadzor seeks closer cooperation with EU
“We are keeping working contacts with Lithuanian counterparts within international projects. In the near future we are going to establish contacts,” the Gosatomnadzor head said. She also commented on possible presence of Lithuanian inspection teams at the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

Belarus' first solar plant to be built in Smorgon
The investment project “Construction and technical maintenance of power stations running on renewable energy sources (solar plants)” in Smorgon District will be implemented by the company Ecological Energy registered in the Smorgon District Executive Committee in July. The investment proposal was approved by the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee.

Belarus ready to buy Ukrainian electricity for the right price
Belarus is ready to buy electricity in Ukraine, provided certain price terms are available. The information was released by First Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko after a meeting of the delegations of Belarus and Ukraine in Gomel on 7 August. The meeting also involved First Vice Premier of Ukraine Sergei Arbuzov, BelTA has learned.

Belarus eager to sign Union State fuel, energy balance for 2014 in September
Belarus intends to sign the fuel and energy balance of the Union State of Belarus and Russia for 2014 in September, First Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko told media in Gomel on 7 August where the official took part in a meeting with a Ukrainian delegation. The meeting tabled the development of economic cooperation, BelTA has learned.

Electricity generation in Belarus 4.9% up in June
The generation of electricity in Belarus totaled 2.2 billion kWh in June 2013, 4.9% up from June 2012, a report released by the National Statistics Committee reads.

First-year students of the Belarusian National Technical University, who will become engineers to build thermal electric power plants and nuclear power plants, have been made familiar with the safety systems and the process flows used by the Smolensk nuclear power plant, Russia. It was the fourth visit organized for students of the Belarusian university, representatives of the Public Information Center of the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant told BelTA.
