Alena Kupchyna emphasized that Belarus would like to continue the substantive and practical cooperation with the Agency in all areas of its activities, including implementation of guarantees, nuclear safety and security, peaceful use of nuclear energy, and technical cooperation.

Atomexpo Belarus to take place in Minsk on 18-20 April
The business program will feature a conference and a plenary session, panel sessions, and roundtable sessions. The discussions are expected to focus on the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, the public’s acceptance of nuclear energy, the creation of centers for nuclear science and technologies on the basis of research reactors, nuclear medicine, and other areas.

Energy Ministry stresses importance of IAEA SEED mission for Belarus
Belarus’ Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk greeted the IAEA experts with words of welcome. He thanked the IAEA Secretariat for the organization of the mission and stressed its importance. The parties established guidelines for the mission and proceeded to discuss key matters. The experts will be working in Belarus until 20 January.

No special concerns from Lithuania about radiation monitoring around Belarusian nuclear power plant
According to the source, the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry and Gidromet, which are responsible for arranging radiation monitoring around the Belarusian nuclear power plant, have heard no special concerns about it, including from Lithuania. “All the measurements of background radiation, chemical composition of the environment near the nuclear power plant, hydrological and meteorological measurements are taken using European standards and norms,” stressed Maria Germenchuk.
