Belarus, Ecuador to set up joint laboratory for unmanned systems
Belarus and Ecuador are planning to set up a joint laboratory to develop unmanned aircrafts, Sergei Chizhik, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, told journalists during his meeting with the delegation from Ecuador, BelTA has learnt.

Belarus among CIS most financially literate nations
“The level of financial literacy in Belarus is without doubt one of the highest in the region. It is definitely higher than that in Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan,” Konstantin Golovinsky said. Another proof of this fact is the research conducted in July-August 2013 as part of the project implemented by Visa, the National Bank and the USAID agency.

Belarus, Russia to cooperate in using GLONASS
Belarus and Russia have agreed to cooperate in using and developing the Russian global satellite navigation system (GLONASS). The relevant intergovernmental agreement was signed by Chairman of the State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus Sergei Gurulev and Head of the Federal Space Agency of Russia (Roscosmos) Oleg Ostapenko after the session of the Union State Council of Ministers in Moscow on 13 December, BelTA has learned.

Maira Mora: Belarusian authorities have done a lot to address ecological issues
Belarusian authorities have done a lot to address ecological issues, however, laws will not work and the ecological awareness of the people will not grow if containers and modern lines to sort waste are not available at the local level. The opinion was voiced by Head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Ambassador Maira Mora at the ceremony held in the Belarusian town Mosty on 13 December to hand over a modernized waste sorting station to the local housing and utilities services provider, BelTA has learned.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will provide $450,000 to finance Belarusian local eco-tourism initiatives, Alexander Tarasenok, the ecotourism adviser of the Local Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) of the UNDP, said during a workshop on the sustainability of eco-tourism business in Grodno on 12 December, BelTA has learnt.

Roscosmos may open office in Belarus
Oleg Ostapenko told reporters that one of the initiatives he is expected to voice at the meeting with Belarus’ Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich is opening of a Roscosmos office. “Today I am going to put on the table the issue of opening a Roscosmos office in Belarus. I think it will add an impetus to handling certain technical issues,” Oleg Ostapenko said.
