Russian Atomstroyexport invites tenders for Belarusian nuclear station equipment
ZAO Atomstroyexport (ASE) has organized another tender for the delivery of RUB2.6 billion worth of equipment for the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from representatives of the Russian company OAO NIAEP – ZAO ASE.

Russia to lend Belarus up to $10bn to build NPP
The Russian government has instructed the Finance Ministry to sign a protocol to provide Belarus with a government loan of up to $10 billion to construct the nuclear power plant, reads the official Internet portal of legal information of Russia.

Belarusian nuclear station construction to draw from Leningrad nuclear station experience
The Department’s delegation has taken part in a planned inspection of the second Leningrad nuclear power plant. The inspection had been organized by the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service of Russia (Rostechnadzor). Representatives of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry were present in the capacity of observers. The source explained that the construction, equipment manufacturing, and supervision processes of the Belarusian nuclear power plant and the second Leningrad nuclear power plant are similar because the facilities are virtually identical.

Reactor compartment of Belarusian nuclear station to rise on time
At present as many as 2,783 workers are employed on site. Subcontractors are expected to use 39% of this year’s allocated annual capital investment by the end of 2014. The volume of operations planned for September is unprecedented.

IAEA experts to visit Belarusian NPP in October
“The IAEA experts will get familiar with the progress made on the NPP construction site and hold a seminar with the company’s specialists on the issues regarding the commissioning of the station and the role of the operating organization in this process,” the company noted. The functions of the BelNPP operating organization are performed by the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant Company.

Construction of Belarusian nuclear station now above ground
The first block of the internal protective shell of the first power-generating unit has been installed. “The event is as important as the start of concrete pouring operations. The installation of the internal protective shell is one of the key phases of the construction project. By doing it we have reached the above-ground phase,” explained Mikhail Filimonov, Director General of the enterprise.

Virtual technology to keep Belarusian nuclear power plant safe
A unique technology Virtual Nuclear Power Plant is used to design the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The technology ensures the top safety of the facility in addition to allowing the choice of optimal operation modes. The information was released by Yevgeny Obraztsov, Head of the Research and Development Lab of OAO Atomproject, during a media tour of OAO Atomproject and the second Leningrad nuclear power plant, which is under construction, BelTA has learned. The media tour was arranged for representatives of the Belarusian Energy Ministry, the Information Ministry, and OAO Atomproject.

Russian expert: Building works at BelNPP are of high quality
Representatives of OAO Atomproyekt conduct regular reviews at the construction site of the plant. “Several specialists of our company present at the site of the future nuclear power plant,” Pavel Bezrukov noted. If needed the number of Atomproyekt representatives will be increased.

Construction of Belarusian nuclear station’s information center begins in Ostrovets
The one-storey building will be located in the first residential district of the town for energy industry personnel. The design envisages a spacious conference hall fitted with multimedia tools that will come in handy for lectures about nuclear power engineering as well as halls for showcasing models and expositions. Visitors of the center will be able to get familiar with operation principles of modern nuclear power plants, the strategy for handling radioactive waste, peculiarities of safeguards. Part of the exposition will be dedicated to the construction of the first Belarusian nuclear power plant. The information center is scheduled to open in March 2015.

First reactor for Belarusian nuclear station in late 2015
The upper half of the reactor’s shell for the first power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been assembled by the Volgodonsk-based branch of OAO AEM Technologies (part of Atomenergomash, which is the mechanical engineering division of the Russian state corporation Rosatom).
