Polish nuclear industry experts to evaluate Belarusian nuclear station progress
Representatives of the National Atomic Energy Agency of Poland are expected to visit Belarus on 26-28 May to get familiar with the project to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant, representatives of Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department (Gosatomnadzor) of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry told BelTA.

Belarus to tap into Vnesheconombank’s nuclear station loan in May
The source said that the Finance Ministry, the Energy Ministry, the enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, and BelVEB Bank had signed an agreement on the procedures for using and repaying the loan of up to $500 million that Russian Vnesheconombank has allocated to the Belarus government to finance the advance payments needed for implementing the project to build Belarus’ first nuclear power plant.

Vnesheconombank opens $500m credit line for BelNPP project
The Government of Belarus, Russia’s Vnesheconombank and Belvnesheconombank signed a loan agreement on 15 May to grant Belarus up to $500 million to finance advance payments on the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA has learnt.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant (NPP) has received the full license for the construction of the first power-generating unit, BelTA learned from the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department (Gosatomnadzor) of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry.

Belarusian nuclear safety watchdog to better cooperate with independent technical support bodies
Belarus will pay close attention to the further development of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry for the sake of implementing proposals voiced by parties to the Nuclear Safety Convention in Vienna in late March. The proposals were voiced as part of the presentation of the 6th national report on fulfilling the Convention, said First Deputy Emergencies Minister of Belarus Vasily Stepanenko during the press conference in BelTA’s press center on 21 April.

Belarus’ nuclear watchdog to supervise BelNPP project on site
A branch of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department will start operating on the construction site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) at the end of 2015, Head of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department under the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) Olga Lugovskaya said at a press conference at the BelTA press center on 21 April.

Full license for first power-generating unit of Belarusian nuclear station within week
The Belarusian nuclear power plant intends to get the full license for the first power-generating unit next week, BelTA learned from Anatoly Bondar, Chief Engineer of the enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, during a mass media tour to the Ostrovets construction site on 17 April. The tour had been arranged by the Energy Ministry.

BelNPP to join World Association of Nuclear Operators
The Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) has plans to join the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) before the commissioning, chief engineer of the BelNPP Anatoly Bondar said at a seminar “Sharing best practices in NPP commissioning” in Ostrovets on 17 April, BelTA has learnt.
