Belarus counts on IAEA’s assistance with its first NPP project
“The annual IAEA report says that in 2013 Belarus became the second country to start constructing its first nuclear power plant over the last three decades. We would like to affirm our strong commitment to the international norms and standards. Nuclear security remains a top priority for Belarus. We are ready for dialogue with all the countries and international organizations concerned during the implementation of the construction project of the nuclear power plant,” Yevgeny Lazarev said.

Construction of second power-generating unit of Belarusian nuclear station ahead of schedule
The first power-generating unit is to be commissioned by late 2018, with the second one to go online by 1 July 2020. “Work on the first unit is in full compliance with the schedule. Work on the second unit is 8-10 months ahead of schedule when it is possible, without any detriment to quality,” said Vladimir Semashko.

Ukrainian Energomashspetsstal ships large batch of intermediate parts to Belarusian nuclear station
The batch of intermediate parts has been sent to OAO AEM Technologies, which makes equipment for the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The parts have gone through the entire processing cycle and will be used to make the first and second power-generating units of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. This batch includes components for the main circulation line, a steam generator, and the main circulating pump. The total weight of the shipped products is 358.3 tonnes.

Complex inspection of Belarusian nuclear station construction to begin on 27 October
A complex inspection of the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant involving Russian specialists will take place on 27 October – 6 November, BelTA learned from the Public Relations Office of the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry.

BelNPP completes pilot stage of educational project “Teachers’ Day at the NPP
The project was developed together with the education, sport and tourism department of the Ostrovets District Executive Committee. The goal of the project is to educate local teachers about the Belarusian nuclear energy program, inform them about the course of the construction and peculiarities of the BelNPP. The first group of teachers from Ostrovets District – a total of 47 people – has recently visited the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

IAEA seminar at premises of Belarusian nuclear power plant
Specialists of the International Atomic Energy Agency were made familiar with the state of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, carried out an educational seminar for specialists of the Belarusian enterprise to cover the commissioning of the nuclear power plant as well as functions and competences of the operating company. The international experts noted that the action plan developed by the Republic of Belarus after the IAEA mission visited the country in 2012 had been fulfilled unwaveringly.

Ukrainian Energomashspetsstal ships batch of equipment parts for Belarusian nuclear station
The Ukrainian company continues making intermediate parts for the package equipment of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Another batch of intermediate parts for the first and second power-generating units of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been sent on its way to OAO AEM Technologies, which makes equipment for the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Among other things the batch includes components of the collector and the reactor’s body. The total weight of the shipped products is 276 tonnes.

Russian company to get RUB643m in 2014 as part of Belarusian nuclear station construction contract
In 2014 the Russian company OAO NIAEP will get RUB643 million for services rendered as part of the management of the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, including engineering services, BelTA has learned.

Investments in Belarusian nuclear station construction to exceed plans
“The construction of the nuclear power plant proceeds on schedule. We will spend all the planned resources and even more than that,” noted the Minister. He specified that in 2014 alone the project is expected to receive funding as large as $450 million.

Equipment for Belarusian nuclear station delivered on time
Equipment for the Belarusian nuclear power plant, which is being built near the town of Ostrovets, including equipment from Ukraine, is delivered on schedule, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Energy Minister Leonid Shenets before the plenary session of the third Belarusian-German energy forum on 14 October.
