Construction of BelNPP’s personnel training center to begin in May
The construction of a training center for the personnel of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is supposed to start in May 2014, BelTA learned from Anatoly Bondar, Chief Engineer of the enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, during the Energy Ministry’s media tour to the Ostrovets construction site on 17 April.

Latest nuclear station startup practices in spotlight at Ostrovets seminar
The latest practices used to launch nuclear power plants are discussed at the international seminar of the World Association of Nuclear Operators. The seminar is scheduled to take place at premises of the enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant in Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast on 14-18 April, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

Belarus’ Government grants tax relief on Belarus NPP power grid linkup project
The Government of Belarus included the power grid linkup construction project of the Belarusian power nuclear plant into the list of investment projects which technological equipment and components are exempted from customs import duties and VAT. The decision is contained in Council of Ministers’ Resolution No.314 of 4 April 2014, BelTA learnt from the government’s press service.

Belarusians working hard on nuclear station construction project
Belarusian specialists do 90% of the work as part of the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The information was released by Yuri Neretin, Chief Engineer of the representative office of the Russian company OAO NIAEP in Belarus, during a mass media tour arranged for Belarusian and foreign reporters as part of the sixth international expo and conference AtomExpo Belarus 2014 on 3 April, BelTA has learned.

As much as 5% of the total work needed to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant has been done, BelTA learned from Andrei Barkun, Deputy Director General for Capital Construction of the enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, during a mass media tour arranged for Belarusian and foreign reporters as part of the sixth international nuclear industry expo and conference AtomExpo Belarus 2014 on 3 April.

Decision on $500 million VEB loan for Belarusian nuclear station soon
The decision on granting a Vnesheconombank loan to Belarus for financing advance payments as part of the construction of the nuclear power plant may be made soon. The statement was made by Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich as he met with Vnesheconombank Chairman of the Board Vladimir Dmitriyev on 3 April.

AEM Technologies busy building reactor unit for Belarusian nuclear station
The Volgodonsk-based branch of the Russian company ZAO AEM Technologies (part of Atomenergomash, which is the mechanical engineering division of the Russian state corporation Rosatom) has started manufacturing the reactor unit for the first power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from OAO Atomenergomash representatives.

First core catcher for Belarusian nuclear station scheduled for installation in 2014
The core catcher for the first power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant will be installed this year, BelTA learned from Nikolai Grusha, Director of the Nuclear Energy Department of the Belarusian Energy Ministry, at the science to practice conference held on 2 April to discuss prospects of nuclear power development in Belarus.

About $470 million will be spent in 2014 on building the Belarusian nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from First Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko during the opening of the international nuclear industry expo AtomExpo Belarus 2014 on 1 April.
