Belarus to join pharmaceutical inspection cooperation scheme
The executive order authorizes the accession of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry to the Pharmaceutical Inspection Cooperation Scheme. The expenses involved in joining PIC/S and being a member will be covered by the portion of the central state budget allocated for international activities of the Healthcare Ministry.

Belarus’ cardiology center performs 30 heart transplants in January-August 2014
According to Yelena Kurlyanskaya, the center uses all methods to treat chronic heart failures. The center has been doing heart transplants for five years already and has performed 144 heart transplants, including on children. Last year Belarus was ranked 9th in the world in terms of the number of transplant surgeries (4.2 surgeries per 1 million people). One-year survival rate is 77-78%. No European center can boast 100% survival rate.

Belarus to set up more GPS, GLONASS reference stations
There are plans to commission ten continuously operating reference stations (CORS) in Belarus in January 2015 for the sake of the global satellite-powered positioning system, BelTA learned from Andrei Anashenkov, Chief Engineer of the Belarusian aerospace geodesy enterprise Belaerocosmogeodesy.

Great potential for cooperation between NASB, American scientists
Vladimir Gusakov remarked that the Belarusian side had put forth the initiative to hold negotiations and determine prospects of future cooperation between the academies of the two countries. “We believe we have a good potential. We can establish quality long-term cooperation in a number of areas relating to biological sciences, biotechnologies, chemical sciences, information sciences, math sciences, physics, humanitarian sciences,” said the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The website is believed to be interesting both for adults and children. It offers social videos and educational cartoons. Apart from that, the website features books, articles, leaflets, videos, and results of studies into the financial awareness of Belarusians and the access to finance in Belarus.

ICAAN okays Cyrillic domain zone for Belarus
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has approved Belarus' application for a top-level Cyrillic domain .бел, representatives of the company Reliable Software (hoster.by), the technical administrator of the domain zone .by, told BelTA.

Belarus-Russia tighter cooperation in space projects encouraged
In his words, among other things Belarus is interested in cooperation in engineering instruments for researchers and in robot technologies. “These are projects of Integral as well as Peleng, Planar, NPO Center and a dozen of other companies,” he said. Piotr Vityaz reminded that the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Federal Space Agency of Russia (Roscosmos) had signed an agreement on cooperation. A joint working group was created in May 2014.

Belarus, Russia, Peru to design nano satellite to predict earthquakes
Scientists from Belarus, Russia, and Peru will create a nano satellite that will carry out several experiments once it is in orbit, including experiments to assess the possibility of predicting earthquakes. The information was released by Head of the Center for Space Research Studies of the Kursk-based Southwest State University Valerian Pikkiyev, BelTA has learned.
