Belarus Academy of Sciences to monitor wildlife
The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will monitor wildlife as part of the national environmental monitoring system of the Republic of Belarus. The decision was approved by Decree No.379 “Concerning amendments and additions to the Belarus President’s Decree No.244 of 13 June 2011” which Alexander Lukashenko signed on 28 July, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian press service.

BSU students discover burial dating back 4,500 years
Items dating back to the second half of the 3rd millennia BC were unearthed during an archeological dig near the village of Drozdy, Stolbtsy District, Minsk Oblast. Among them were a clay pot, two axes (one from stone and the other one from silicone), two knives, and a bundle of arrows (only arrow-heads have survived). The participants of the expedition assumed that the items were buried together with a body that was burnt and placed in a 1x2m pit.

UNDP considering three new projects in Belarus
One of the projects is aimed at the development of wind energy in Belarus. “We would like to provide cooperation to the country in the development of renewable energy resources. The theme meets the priorities of the donor, the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The project application has been approved, and now we are completing the preparations for this large-scale project,” Igor Chulba said.

Government program to develop specially protected natural reservations in Belarus in 2015-2019
The document has been put together taking into account results of the research into the development of strategic avenues for enhancing the system of specially protected natural reservations. The research has been performed by the Science and Practice Center for Bioresources of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
