Production of IT services in Belarus to exceed $1bn in 2014
By 2018 the total production of IT services in Belarus will approach $2 billion. “The key trends will be the transition of some companies to the business-to-consumer model (B2C) and the reduction of the profitability of companies using the business-to-business model (B2B),” added Yevgeny Radionik.

Belarusian scientist honored with China West Lake Friendship Award
The award went to laboratory chief of the scientific and research institute of physical and chemical issues of the Belarusian State University Dmitry Grinshpan in recognition of his considerable contribution to the implementation of the joint research project to develop a technology for the production of compostable film as well as the development of sci-tech cooperation with establishments of Zhejiang Province.

Minsk to host first Eurasian forum of young scientists in 2015
This large-scale forum will be a landmark event as the year 2015 was declared the Year of Youth in Belarus. “We would like to hold this forum on a large scale. Apart from the conference with reports, we are planning to organize an exhibition of joint innovative projects of young scientists from the Eurasian space which may attract potential investors,” the scientist noted.

Belarusian farmers interested in Japanese experience of creating agricultural crops
The Belarusian farmers established contacts with Japanese companies during the expo as well as via the representative of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan and via the Embassy of Belarus in Japan where a separate meeting took place. “The embassy and our representative will continue helping build up ties between the businesses of the two countries, including in agriculture where contacts are few and far between,” explained Yuri Pchelko. Belarus and Japan have established tighter cooperation with regard to culture, children recreation, the provision of medical equipment and radiation safety instruments to Belarusian institutions. Apart from that, a delegation of business circles of Minsk and the oblast visited Tokyo early this year. During the visit the possibility of supplying woodworking industry products, agricultural products, and agricultural chemistry products to Japan was discussed.

Sixteen academicians elected to National Academy of Sciences of Belarus
The election took place during the session of the general meeting of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on 13 and 14 November. There were 24 vacancies for the title of an academician and 39 for a corresponding member. The biggest competition was among the candidatures for the title of academician in plant biotechnology (four persons). The biggest competition among the corresponding members was for the title of corresponding member in engineering technology (seven persons).
