Penza Oblast interested in Belarus' solutions in alternative energy, IT
Penza Oblast of Russia would like to study Belarus' practices in implementing cutting-edge projects in alternative energy, information technologies, and agriculture, Penza Oblast Governor Vasily Bochkarev said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko in Penza on 9 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Embassy.

Novopolotsk, Serbia's Nis bolster ties in healthcare
An official delegation from Serbia arrived in Novopolotsk on the evening of 8 December with the aim to establish contacts and exchange experiences with healthcare institutions of Belarus. The delegation includes Director General of the Clinical Center of Nis Professor Zoran Radovanovic, the Director of the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Clinical Center of Nis Dr. Veroljub Pejcic, Director General of Ribarska Banja Special Hospital Dr. Dusan Sokorac. In a meeting with chairperson of the Novopolotsk city administration Natalia Kochanova they shared their first impressions about the city and agreed on a return visit of the Novopolotsk delegation to Serbia in 2015.

Belarus-Poland-Lithuania cross-border biosphere reserve concept developed
A concept has been developed for the Belarus-Poland-Lithuania cross-border biosphere reserve, head of the international technical assistance project, Management of Alytus-Grodno Region Transboundary Protected Areas and Promotion of Their Integration into the Pan-European Ecological Network, chief of the sci-tech research laboratory of landscape ecology under the Belarusian State University Valentin Yatsukhno told BelTA.

Croatia's Tehnix seeks closer cooperation with Belarus
Tehnix Managing Director Duro Horvat praised Belarus' efforts to improve the environmental protection of the population, waste management and development of the recoverable materials collection and processing sector. He also expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Belarus, including setting up joint assembling plants for special-purpose municipal vehicles and equipment.

Strategy for wetlands management until 2030 developed in Belarus
According to him, the preparation of the strategy is the main objective of the project "Landscape approach to management of peatlands aiming at multiple ecological benefits". "There are huge problems with how peatlands are used in Belarus. The fertility of lands in Polesye has fallen dramatically due to the degradation of the reclaimed wetlands. The production of crops on these lands becomes unprofitable. Naturally, the question arises: what we do now with the money invested in the infrastructure for of farms and people living in those territories,” said the project manager.

Belarusian banks encouraged to improve safety of online shopping
The international payment systems VISA and MasterCard use the 3D Secure technology to offer mechanisms to identify holders of payment cards. For instance, in order to pay for products or services on the Internet, a card holder has to enter the password texted to the card holder by the acquirer bank. Such measures allow minimizing the risk of unauthorized withdrawal of money from client accounts.

Belarus, Russia working on joint weather prediction program
The program “Prevention of hydrometeorological hazards in the Union State” is set to run in 2016-2020. Anatoly Polishchuk noted that the major objective of the program is to prevent hazardous or an unfavorable hydrometeorological conditions using various observation tools.
