Velcom to double Internet access speed in Belarusian cities by late October
“We are about to finish a large-scale project to enable the Dual Carrier HDSPA technology for all the 3G|3G+ base stations in Belarusian cities with the population of over 30,000 people. It will allow increasing Internet access speed up to 42Mbps,” explained the press service.

Interbank financial telecommunication system for Customs Union under consideration
The central banks of Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan are discussing the integration of the national payment systems and the possibility of creating an equivalent of the SWIFT system (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication), BelTA learned from Sergei Dubkov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

Trade Ministry: Public procurement process will be made more transparent
According to Pavel Zhukovsky, efforts are being made to improve the legislation on public procurement and make the mechanism for electronic procurement more transparent. “When reviewing the complaints from members of public procurement process, we have found out that there are violations on the part of customers. Therefore, free access will be given to the complaints and the results of their review to keep the participants of the electronic public procurement process informed. Procurement bids will be also freely available on the Internet. Currently this information is only available to participants in the procedure,” Pavel Zhukovsky said.

ITU praises Belarus’ efforts to promote ICT
Senior executives of the International Telecommunication Union think highly of Belarus’ potential and efforts to promote information and communication technologies, the Belarusian Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies told BelTA following the visit of a Belarusian delegation led by First Deputy Communications and Information Technologies Minister Dmitry Shedko to the Republic of Korea.

More information about public procurement contracts on the Internet as from 2015
More information about public procurement will be available on the Internet as from 1 January 2015, Tatyana Kozlovskaya, a public procurement consultant with the department of competition policy and public procurement of the Eurasian Economic Commission, said during the Belarusian-Russian conference "State and municipal procurement contracts, prospects of cooperation” in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

Belarus, Siberia consider joint innovation projects
“We have been long cooperating with the Siberian Office of the Russian Academy of Sciences. We hold various contests, implement joint projects - a total of about 100 sci-tech projects in various areas, including catalysis, medicine, energy conservation, and many more. At present we are gradually moving from purely scientific to integration and innovation projects to set up new companies and win the market,” the academician said.
