Italian holding company eager to implement three investment projects in Belarus
The Italian holding company Gruppo Paoletti intends to implement three investment projects in Belarus, BelTA learned from representatives of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus (NAIP). The idea was discussed during a regular visit of Italian partners to Minsk on 22 July. Led by president of the holding company Vittorio Paoletti, members of the delegation met with representatives of the Agency and the Belarus government.

Waste products as alternative fuel for Belarusian cement mills
“We are now considering using part of the waste products, which cannot be recycled for manufacturing purposes, as an alternative fuel for cement mills. We may start implementing a pilot project in Grodno Oblast next year,” noted the official. In accordance with the project OAO Krasnoselskstroymaterialy will modernize its manufacturing facilities in order to use fuel made out of waste products. Respectively matters concerning the establishment of facilities across the country to make this alternative fuel will be discussed.

The participants of the 5th gathering of young environmentalists of Belarus and Russia “Environment Without Borders” were welcomed in Brest on 22 July. The gathering started from a patriotic campaign at the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial, BelTA has learnt.

Belarusians win medals at 6th International Tournament of Young Mathematicians
Belarus’ national team comprised students of the BSU Lyceum Anton Voronko, Dmitry Rumyantsev, Anton Shemyakov and Sergei Shemyakov, students of Minsk gymnasium No. 41 Nikolai Prokhorov and Boris Serenkov. The Belarusian students shared the prize with the team of France.

General Electric to make electric drives in Belarus
The U.S. corporation General Electric intends to start making electric drives in Belarus, BelTA learned from representatives of Belarusian Autoworks (BelAZ trademark) after a delegation of the American corporation led by the director general of GE Transportation Mining, a daughter enterprise of General Electric, visited the Belarusian company on 21 July.

Belarusian Planar to make microelectronics machine tools with China
In July 2014 a delegation of the Second Research Institute of the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation and the North University of China visited the Belarusian enterprise. The sides discussed prospects of cooperation in implementing joint projects. As a result of the visit a memorandum of cooperation between the Belarusian company and the Second Research Institute in implementing the project to create a new model of assembly equipment was signed.

Belarus wins five medals at International Mathematical Olympiad
Student of Minsk Gymnasium No. 41 Dmitry Bobrov won the gold medal, the eleventh-grade student of the Lyceum of the Belarusian State University (BSU) Roman Marchenko won the silver medal and the tenth-grade student of the lyceum Valentin Vityaz received the bronze. Bronze medals were also given to student of Minsk Gymnasium No. 41 Svyatoslav Borodachev and student of Minsk Gymnasium No. 29 Dmitry Voinov. Alexei Gaponenko from Minsk Gymnasium No. 41 got an honorable mention.

Archaeologists unearth unique finds on Castle Hill in Mstislavl
"We make this conclusion based on a large quantity of unique and very valuable objects we found here such as a 12th-century birchbark manuscript, many elements of ancient weapons, leather clothing, shoes and rich decorations. Among them is a spindle whorl with an inscription in Cyrillic, a leather belt of a warrior, a gold-painted Byzantine wine bowl. Yesterday we found an encolpyon and a large crystal bead,” said Igor Marzalyuk.

Belarusians win two medals at International Biology Olympiad
Eleventh-grade student of the Lyceum of the Belarusian State University (BSU) Tatyana Skugarevskaya has won a silver medal at the 25th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2014), Yekaterina Dragunova from Mogilev School No. 15 got a bronze medal, and Margarita Kurban from the BSU Lyceum got an honorable mention, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Education Ministry.

Belarus to switch to digital television in May 2015
In particular, on 15 May 2015 the remaining ten installations, including the central radio and television broadcasting station in Kolodishchi, will stop analogue broadcasts. In line with the final acts of the regional radiocommunication conference for the planning of the digital terrestrial broadcasting service analogue broadcasting is to stop on 17 June 2015 at the latest, noted Pavel Petrulevich.
